Toledo is 35 minutes from Finca La Simona, about 50 km by road: close enough to leave after a relaxed breakfast and be back for dinner at the estate, and far enough that the group feels like they've had a proper day out. It's the perfect 'next day' plan after a weekend by the pool, or before a long dinner on the terrace.

What to see in a day

  • Toledo Cathedral, one of the great Gothic churches of Spain, right in the historic center.
  • Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes, commissioned by the Catholic Monarchs.
  • Santa María la Blanca Synagogue and the Synagogue of El Tránsito, witnesses to Toledo's history of three cultures.
  • El Greco paintings scattered across the city's churches and museums, starting with the El Greco Museum.
  • Mirador del Valle, with the classic view of the city rising above the Tagus — perfect for the group photo.

With a large group

The old town is best explored on foot, uphill in places, so comfortable shoes help and it's worth not trying to see everything in one morning. With children or older relatives in the group, the tourist train (Zocotren) and viewpoints reachable by car, like the Valle lookout, let you enjoy the views without so much walking. For lunch, the old town has restaurants at every price point, though it's worth booking ahead for a large group.

Combining it with the rest of your stay

Toledo works better as a day trip within a longer weekend than as a stay on its own: you leave in the morning, have lunch in the city or head back early to the estate, and still have the afternoon free for the pool in summer or the fireplace in winter. If the group has both families with young children and adults who want to see every monument, it's worth splitting up: one group does the full walking route while the other sticks to the accessible viewpoints and the terraces on Plaza de Zocodover. Either plan is compatible with everyone gathering for dinner back at the estate that same evening.
