Photo shoots on an estate full of light

Photo shoots on an estate full of light

A country house an hour from Madrid with natural light all day, an olive grove, a saltwater pool, terraces looking onto the mountains and interiors with character. Rented whole, with no other guests, and the crew can stay the night.

A fashion editorial, a brand catalogue, wedding photos or a family session all need the same thing: light, varied settings a few steps apart and a quiet place where nobody is watching the clock. Finca La Simona sits in open countryside in Los Cerralbos (Toledo), an hour from Madrid on the A-5. The house is rented whole, so during the shoot there is no one around but your own team.

Settings without leaving the estate

  • A living room with big windows and side light all morning.
  • An entrance hall with an antique desk, a mirror and terracotta floors.
  • A doorway with a studded wooden gate and a view of the garden.
  • A dining room with the long table set, for still lifes and table scenes.
  • Terraces facing the Sierra de San Vicente, perfect in the last light of the afternoon.
  • A saltwater pool surrounded by olive trees and lawn.
  • Olive grove, meadow and dirt tracks for exteriors with a clean background.
  • Six en-suite bedrooms that double as dressing rooms, make-up and storage.

What's included

  • The house and grounds exclusively for the crew for the whole stay.
  • Parking next to the house for vans and crew cars.
  • Wifi throughout the house and power sockets indoors and on the terraces.
  • A fully equipped kitchen for crew catering, or home-cooked meals prepared by us if you prefer.
  • Beds for up to 16 people, if the shoot runs for more than a day.

How it works

  • Write to us with the dates, the kind of shoot and the size of the crew.
  • If you want to see the estate first, we arrange a location visit.
  • You book the house like any other stay: with accommodation, two nights minimum.
  • If you only need the estate for one day, ask us and we will see how to fit it in between bookings.

Why an estate and not a studio

A studio gives you control, but every set has to be built. Here the settings are already there: in twenty metres you go from the living room to the porch, from the porch to the olive grove and from the grove to the pool, with the light changing on its own through the day. And since the house is yours, the crew eats, rests and changes without leaving the estate. For a two-day shoot it is everyone's accommodation too.

FAQ

Do we need a permit to photograph on the estate?

No. It is a private estate and permission comes with the booking. We only ask you to tell us what kind of shoot it is so we can get the house ready.

Can the photos be used commercially?

Yes. Catalogues, campaigns and editorials are welcome; we settle the details when you book.

Can we move furniture or bring props?

Yes, with care and putting everything back where it was. If you want to change something big, tell us beforehand.

Is there room for a large crew?

Up to 16 people can sleep over. During the day a considerably larger crew can work, with the dining room and terraces as a base.

Can we come for just one day, without staying over?

A normal stay is two nights. For a single day, write to us: if there is a gap between bookings, we will make it work.
